Learning through play: this is the aim of an initiative that equips elementary school in Germany with board games. More schools in Saxony are now taking part in the program.

In Saxony, 13 more elementary school are getting a playroom. The schools impressed the jury with their original and well thought-out concepts, demonstrating "how learning can succeed through play", announced the Ministry of Education in Dresden. According to the "Spielen macht Schule" initiative, schools can choose from various games, including many classic board games.

According to the ministry, around 300 schools from Saxony have already won educationally valuable games and toys over the past 15 years. The "More Time for Children" association launched the "Spielen macht Schule" initiative in 2007 together with the ZNL Transfer Center for Neuroscience and Learning. The games are financed by the manufacturers.
