The measures will lead to closures and detour for two months, particularly on the route between Leipzig and Dresden. An overview of the most important changes for travelers.

Traffic around the Elbe bridge in Riesa is restricted until July due to maintenance work. Deutsche Bahn announced that bridge sleepers are being replaced and extensive work is being carried out in various areas. The aim is to maintain the structure in the long term, it added.

The work will begin with a full closure of the bridge on May 18 and 19. One track will then be reopened before the bridge is to be fully closed again at the expected end of the measures on 24 and 25 July.

What will change for travelers

Long-distance trains will pass the construction site on a single track and continue to stop in Riesa as planned, as Deutsche Bahn explained. This also applies to the regional RE 50 line between Leipzig and Dresden.

The Eurocity from Leipzig to Krakow, on the other hand, will be rerouted via Torgau. A rail replacement service with buses will be set up for the RB 45 between Elsterwerda and Riesa.

East of the B169 near Röderau in the direction of Riesa, the speed will be reduced to 50 kilometers per hour, as the construction site access road will be located there. The Elbe cycle path will also be secured at this point, according to the final statement.
