The number of training contracts in the East Saxon trades has reached its highest level in the past ten years. In the new apprenticeship year, 500 women and 1,782 men started an apprenticeship there, according to the Dresden Chamber of Crafts. The total number of 2,282 contracts represents an increase of around six percent compared to the previous year. According to the chamber, the training market in eastern Saxony is defying the current economic downturn.
In the ranking of the most popular training occupations in the Dresden chamber district, motor vehicle mechatronics technician is in the lead with 359 newly concluded apprenticeship contracts. This is followed by plant mechanic for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology (173), electronics technician (167), carpenter (102) and hairdresser (104).
