L Leuchten Manufactur Wurzen will have to cease operations by the end of February. Despite an international search, it has not been possible to find an investor for the traditional company, announced insolvency administrator Christian Krönert. "The loss of this business means the disappearance of a rare craft know-how and a cultural technique of great regional and supra-regional value."
According to Krönert, the company is Germany's oldest lighting manufacturer. Its often handmade products hang in the Semper Opera House in Dresden, Bremen City Hall and Hundisburg Castle (Saxony-Anhalt) and Bad Muskau Castle (Saxony), among others.
