Those who currently want to travel from Dresden to Prague by train will have to plan for alternative services and longer journey times. Due to construction work between Bad Schandau and Schöna, the line will be completely closed until next Sunday (March 22) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., as announced by Deutsche Bahn. After that, there will be a total closure every Monday from 9 am to 7 pm until November 2027.
Trains on the long-distance Berlin-Dresden-Prague line will then only run between Berlin and Dresden and Decin and Prague. Replacement buses will run between Dresden and Usti nad Labem. The stop in Bad Schandau will be canceled. Regional services will also be affected: there will be replacement services on the S1 and U28 lines between Bad Schandau and Schmilka or Decin. Deutsche Bahn recommends using the digital information media to find out about connections before starting your journey.
