On average, 2,011 euros of per capita disposable income was set aside in the Free State of Saxony. The national average was 3,465 euros per year.
Saxony thus ranks near the bottom in a comparison of states by savings rate. Only in Saxony-Anhalt was the figure slightly lower, at 7.3 percent. In Thuringia, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Bremen, people saved 7.7 percent of their disposable income.
