The cost-cutting program, which has been in place for about a year and includes job cuts and, in some cases, higher selling prices, is driving revenue and profit at Wacker Chemie. With revenue growth of just over 9 percent to 1.47 billion euros, the company nearly doubled its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) in the third quarter year-over-year to around 217 million euros. The bottom line was a profit of 87 million euros. A year ago, the company had posted a net loss of 82 million euros. In May, Wacker Chemie announced that it had reached an agreement with employee representatives on a socially responsible plan to cut approximately 1,600 jobs in Germany. This also affects the Saxon site in Nünchritz, where 200 jobs are to be cut. At Wacker’s largest global site in Burghausen (Bavaria), 1,300 jobs will be cut; 60 at the company’s headquarters in Munich; and a total of 50 at other locations in Germany. The company stated that the strong growth in operating profit was primarily attributable to its efficiency program. It is expected to generate annual savings of over 300 million euros starting in 2028. In addition, there was a one-time effect of approximately 35 million euros resulting from the termination of a contract in the Polysilicon business unit. Wacker Chemie left its outlook for the full year unchanged, projecting revenue growth in the mid-single-digit percentage range. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
