Whether in the hospitality industry or the energy sector, salaries in Saxony vary widely. Who earns the most - and who has to make do with significantly less.

On average, full-time employees in Saxony earned around 53,500 euros gross per year last year. Nationwide, this figure was around a fifth higher, according to the State Statistical Office in Kamenz. These figures also include special payments such as vacation and Christmas bonuses.

Last year, employees in the hospitality industry (35,918 euros) and in agriculture, forestry and fishing (38,186 euros) received the least money. Average earnings were almost twice as high in financial and insurance services (71,904 euros) and energy supply (71,821 euros). Full-time employees in the information and communication sector (69,043 euros) and in education and teaching (68,500 euros) earned above average.
