Saxony's economy is not getting any wind in its sails. Contrary to the national trend, gross domestic product fell for the third year in a row in 2025: by 0.2 percent in price-adjusted terms. This was announced by the State Statistical Office in Kamenz. Nationwide, there was still a meagre increase of 0.2 percent. While other federal states such as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Bremen and Berlin even recorded growth rates of over one percent, Saxony is one of the seven federal states with a shrinking economy.
