Premiere for EFW: Eight passenger jets are converted into cargo giants in Dresden and delivered to China.

Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) has completed its first major order in China. The last of the eight cargo aircraft was delivered on Wednesday, as the Dresden-based company announced. The conversion of the passenger aircraft for Air China Cargo was planned in the Saxon state capital and carried out by partner Ameco in Chengdu, China.

"We are proud of the successful cooperation with the teams from Air China Cargo and Ameco in the conversion of our first China fleet and look forward to further cooperation in the coming years," said Torsten Kühn, Head of EFW's conversion program, at the handover in Chengdu. The first converted freighter was handed over at the beginning of 2023.

EFW is a subsidiary of ST Engineering (Singapore) and Airbus with a turnover of 650 million (2024) and around 2,000 employees. The cooperation with Ameco, the maintenance company of Air China and Air China Cargo, has been running since 2022.
