More than 1,000 jobs, millions in investment, and a new specialized factory: The furniture retailer is betting on growth in Günthersdorf.

Furniture retailer Höffner has expanded its facility in Günthersdorf, in the Saale District, into its central European warehouse. The company announced that 80 million euros have been invested in this project over the past two years. Total investments at the site amount to approximately 300 million euros. Among other things, the high-bay warehouse for online retail has been significantly expanded, as online business continues to grow in importance. Due to the vulnerability of international transportation routes, it has also become necessary to increase inventory levels.

According to the company, approximately 1,000 people are employed in Günthersdorf, including about 100 apprentices. Saxony-Anhalt’s Minister President Sven Schulze (CDU) emphasized the company’s importance as an employer and investor for the state during a visit to the site. In 1991, the company opened its first furniture store in East Germany in Günthersdorf. According to the company, a specialized factory for custom-made cabinets and coat racks is also scheduled to begin full-scale operations this fall.
