During the work, the passenger ferry will continue to take passengers across the Elbe. However, vehicles will have to take a different route.

The car ferry between Kleinzschachwitz and Pillnitz Castle will be paused for a good month for inspection and maintenance. The work on the "Castle Ferry" is scheduled to last from May 11 to June 16 so that operations can resume before the start of the summer vacation, as announced by Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB). During this time, the passenger ferry will continue to operate as normal, but it will not be possible to transport vehicles during this period.

Revision every five years

The DVB carries out a thorough technical revision of its ferries every five years. The "Schloßfähre" is taken to the shipyard in Laubegast. There, the ship will be lifted out of the water into a dry dock. Among other things, sandblasting and corrosion protection work, a new coat of paint for the deck and steering position and maintenance work on the engines are planned. In addition, the jetties on land will be checked and repaired. At the same time, the legally required ship inspection, the so-called "ship MOT", is carried out. The "Schloßfähre" will then resume its usual service on the Elbe.
