Fall break begins in five federal states: The ADAC warns of increased traffic congestion on the highways. Which routes are particularly affected, and where traffic will be especially heavy due to construction zones.

With the fall break beginning in Saxony this weekend, the ADAC anticipates increased travel. In addition to Saxony, the states of Bremen, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, and Thuringia are also starting their fall breaks, according to the ADAC. However, traffic jams are not expected to reach anywhere near the scale seen this summer.

Traffic jams are expected primarily at construction sites on highways 4, 13, 17, 38, and 72. Nationwide, work is underway at more than 1,000 construction sites. Numerous full highway closures have also been announced on short notice.
