Every second fourth-grader in Saxony is recommended to attend grammar school. Minister of Education Clemens advocates following the teachers' assessment.

A good half of all primary school pupils in Saxony have received a recommendation for grammar school. Around 17,200 fourth-graders, or 50.9 percent, have been recommended for this educational path, according to the Ministry of Education. This corresponds to the level of the previous year. Around 16,600 pupils received an educational recommendation for secondary school.

In the previous school year, 75 percent of parents again followed the educational recommendation given. Minister of Education Conrad Clemens called on pupils to trust the teachers' assessment. He also promoted secondary school as an equal educational pathway. "You can learn any profession on both paths," emphasized the CDU politician.

Fourth-graders who have achieved an average grade of 2.0 or better in the subjects German, mathematics and general studies in the half-year information are recommended for grammar school. None of these subjects may be graded "sufficient" or worse.
