Applications for housing benefit can now be submitted online throughout Saxony via the "Amt24" service portal. Infrastructure Minister Regina Kraushaar (CDU), who is also responsible for housing, spoke of a noticeable reduction in bureaucratic hurdles for citizens. "This is all the more important as behind every housing benefit application are people who need a quick decision for the support they need, with fewer paths and less waiting time in an often stressful situation."
In 2025, the 30 authorities in the state approved housing benefit amounting to 278.4 million for more than 90,000 households. In 2023, more than two thirds of housing benefit authorities were already able to accept online applications. The others gradually followed suit. Housing benefit is a federal and state benefit for citizens who receive a subsidy towards rent or the costs of owner-occupied housing due to their low income.
