Train services on the East Saxony network, which have been disrupted since the end of July due to a dilapidated railroad bridge, will be able to run again without restrictions at the end of the week. Rail traffic between Ebersbach and Zittau will resume in both directions from September 5 at 10 p.m., according to the Görlitz district office. The demolition work on the railroad bridge in Mittelherwigsdorf, which was in danger of collapsing, will be completed on schedule and on time.
At the same time, the district of Görlitz has been working intensively with Deutsche Bahn to construct a temporary bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. However, the requirements set by Deutsche Bahn and the duration of the necessary procedures meant that it was not possible to implement this during the current closure period, the report continued.
