Unusual control - primary school children supported a road safety campaign around schools in Saxony.

Almost one in ten cars was speeding during state-wide traffic checks near schools in Saxony. This is the result of the Saxon Ministry of the Interior's two-week road safety campaign "Blitz für Kids". During the 279 checks at the end of April, 148 fine proceedings were initiated. 2,857 cars were stopped and checked.

The campaign aims to raise awareness among drivers of the particular dangers in the school environment. Numerous primary school children helped out in the first week. They showed green cards as a reward to drivers who drove at an appropriate speed. Yellow cards were shown to speeding drivers. In the second week, police officers took over the checks.
