A police officer was knocked unconscious by soccer fans at the soccer match between BFC Dynamo and FSV Zwickau in the Regionalliga Nordost. Fans without tickets tried to get into the Sportforum Hohenschönhausen on Sunday, according to the police. The officers had tried to prevent them from breaking through to the ticket office area.
According to the police, fans brought a police officer to the ground and kicked and punched him in the head. The officer lost consciousness for a short time and was taken to hospital. Five of his colleagues suffered bruises but were able to continue their duties, it was reported. According to the statement, the fans were stopped and the situation calmed down again. Four fans were temporarily arrested.
300 officers deployed
The police said they had deployed 300 officers. During the match, there were provocations between the fans of the two teams, but these remained without criminal relevance. Pyrotechnics and so-called fog pots were also set off in the home fans' block, according to reports. An altercation on a fan bus was also prevented.
