With a two-goal performance by superstar Kylian Mbappé and a comfortable home win, Real Madrid has set the stage for its Champions League clash with RB Leipzig. The Royals defeated FC Sevilla 4-1 (2-0) in La Liga and celebrated their seventh win in nine league games this season. After Arda Güler opened the scoring in the 30th minute, Mbappé sealed the deal with the 2–0 goal (37th minute) before halftime. After the break, Mbappé was fouled in the penalty area following an assist from former Leipzig player Yan Diomande. The Frenchman converted the resulting penalty himself using the Panenka trick—a casual chip into the center of the goal—in the 63rd minute. Manu Bueno’s goal (80th minute) was immediately countered by the impressive Diomande, who scored the final goal (82nd minute). In the standings, Real remains six points behind league-leading FC Barcelona. On Wednesday (9:00 p.m./DAZN), coach José Mourinho’s team will face RB Leipzig in Europe’s premier club competition.
