Dresdner SC's volleyball players clearly lost their last group match in the Champions League against the Turkish top team Ankara Zeren Spor Kulübü in their home arena 0:3 (17:25, 22:25, 16:25). It was the fourth defeat in the sixth match. However, third place in Pool D was already out of reach for the German runners-up. Alexander Waibl's team will therefore continue on the international stage in the CEV Cup.
The Turks dictated the action on the court right from the start, proving to be more effective in attack in particular and also tactically well prepared in block and court defense. It was only in the second set that the hosts were able to make things a little tighter at times and initially fend off three set points from their opponents at the end. But in the decisive moments, Ankara showed their individual quality and significantly greater experience. The DSC women's defeat was sealed after just 72 minutes.
