There has recently been a lot of speculation surrounding Jürgen Klopp. Is he quitting Red Bull? Is he eyeing the post of national team coach? What about Real Madrid? Now the former coach has spoken out.

Jürgen Klopp has cleared up speculation about a premature end at RB and a quick return as coach. The current head of soccer at Red Bull said during his presentation as a Telekom expert for the World Cup that a commitment as national coach is currently not an issue for him. "At the moment, of course, I'm not even thinking about it, and fortunately there's no reason to."

The 58-year-old was asked in Ismaning near Munich about a scenario in which DFB coach Julian Nagelsmann could leave the team in the event of a disappointing World Cup in the summer.

However, he clearly left open the possibility that he could actively return to the touchline. "I'm quite advanced for my age, but I'm not completely and utterly finished as a coach. I haven't reached retirement age yet," he said. "Who knows what's still to come in the next few years. But nothing is planned in this regard."

Clear statement on Red Bull rumours

Recently, there had also been reports that the long-serving Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool coach could leave Red Bull as early as the summer. Klopp emphasized that people who claim this have no idea about soccer. "I don't intend to hit the sack," he clarified.

Klopp has been Head of Global Soccer at the group with several clubs - including Bundesliga side RB Leipzig - since January 1, 2025. His contract runs until 2029. He referred to Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff, who had already said of the rumors: "This is complete nonsense and completely out of thin air. On the contrary, we are extremely satisfied with Jürgen Klopp's work."

And what about Real Madrid?

In this context, there was also speculation that Real Madrid were interested in the German coach. "The same idiots wrote that," he said. "That's all just nonsense. They haven't called me once, not even once. And not my advisor either."
