SC Magdeburg is still unblemished in the Champions League. The team from the Elbe city won 31:26 (15:12) at North Macedonia's champions Pelister. The best SCM scorer was Magnus Saugstrup with six goals. It was the ninth win in the ninth group game.
Magdeburg got off to a good start in the atmospheric arena and opened up a small lead early on (4:1/6). The home side, led by former Magdeburg player Filip Kuzmanovski, then worked its way into the game, which was characterized by numerous technical mistakes by both sides. "We're not going to get anything here, just from ourselves," said Head Coach Bennet Wiegert in a timeout, urging his team to adjust to the intensity. The SCM then pulled five goals ahead (13:8/21st) and was three goals in front at the break.
The second half began with missed shots from both sides, but Magdeburg caught itself early and pulled five goals ahead again (17:12/35th). Magdeburg remained focused, did not let up even after Nik Henigman was disqualified following his third time penalty (43') and routinely saw out the victory. Magdeburg will host Szeged in their final game in the 2025 Champions League next week before the competition takes a break until February.
