Dynamo Dresden has bolstered its roster two days before the start of the new 2. Bundesliga season. Following his six-month loan during the second half of last season, the Dresden-based club has signed midfielder Robert Wagner on a permanent basis from first-division side SC Freiburg, the club announced. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer details or the length of the contract.
The 22-year-old played 15 games for Dynamo last season and was one of the hardest-working players in the second division. “We emphasized from the very beginning that we would like to keep Robert with us beyond this season,” said sporting director Sören Gonther. “He demonstrated his outstanding quality during the second half of the season. Robert can become a game-changer in our midfield.”
The previous evening, the Black-and-Yellows had already signed Simon Straudi from second-division newcomer Energie Cottbus. The 27-year-old fullback from South Tyrol had moved to the Lausitz region just one year ago from Austrian first-division club Austria Klagenfurt.
