Dresden (dpa/sn)- Pupils in Saxony can apply for a scholarship to study abroad. The Free State is funding 40 four-week stays for high school and grammar school students, the Ministry of Education announced. Those interested can apply online until March 23. In the destination country, students live with a host family and attend classes on site. According to the information provided, the stay abroad takes place between September and November, depending on the country of choice.
High school students can spend the four weeks in France, Malta, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland or the USA. High school students can only apply for France, Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic and Poland.
The costs for flights and teaching materials are covered, but participants have to pay 150 euros themselves. In cases of particular hardship, the fee can be paid in installments.
Minister of Education Conrad Clemens (CDU) encouraged secondary school students in particular to apply. These are underrepresented in exchange programs. The minister said: "Take advantage of this unique opportunity. The impressions and experiences you gain will have a positive impact on your future school and life."
