Several hundred people celebrated Christopher Street Day (CSD) on the streets and squares of Zwickau. The organizers estimated the crowd at up to 800 people. According to the police, everything remained peaceful until the afternoon. There were no registered counter-protests. According to a CSD spokeswoman, there were only a few people who were briefly mobbed on the sidelines. The motto of the CSD was "Zwickau - L(i)ebe Bunt".
"For many queer people, CSD is a place of visibility, safety and respect. The event should be free of discrimination, exclusion and insults. Unfortunately, this is not the case," the organizer wrote on the event's website. Some would associate a CSD primarily with colorful parades, loud music and lots of partying. But CSD is much more than that. "Christopher Street Day sees itself as a political gathering, a political and cultural event that has stood up for equal rights for queer people worldwide for decades."
