From the Socio-Cultural Center in Weißwasser to the Mining Technology Park in the Leipzig coalfield: five initiatives have been awarded the Saxon Citizens' Prize 2025 in Dresden's Frauenkirche. The prizes in five categories are endowed with 5,000 euros each and recognize outstanding civic engagement.
85 projects, initiatives and individuals were nominated, according to the State Chancellery. A jury selected this year's award winners. These include the Sächsischer Anonymer Behandlungsschein association, which offers advice and help to people without health insurance. The Bobenneukirchen sport fishing group in the Vogtland region, which is reportedly committed to preserving bodies of water and protecting the landscape and species, and the Christian Aid for Lithuania association were also honored.
