A new buyer is being sought for Schochwitz Castle in the Saale District near Halle. Two auctions for the historic estate are scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday, according to Deutsche Grundstückauktionen AG’s website. According to the announcement, the property is to be auctioned off for at least 750,000 euros.
A rural setting, yet major cities are not far away
The castle in Salzatal was once the seat of noble families, particularly the von der Schulenburg and von Alvensleben families. A park adjoins the castle grounds. According to the listing, the castle is also well located in other respects: shops for daily needs, utilities, and public transportation stops are all within easy reach.
Schochwitz Castle is located in Saxony-Anhalt, about 12 kilometers west of Halle, 40 kilometers southeast of Magdeburg, and 35 kilometers northeast of Leipzig—in the region bordering Saxony. Halle/Leipzig Airport is also easily accessible by car. In the immediate vicinity of the historic castle, there are several small villages, farmland, wine-growing regions, the Saale River, and Lake Süßer See.
