This year's Saxon Library Prize goes to the "Georgius Agricola" University Library at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. According to Culture Minister Barbara Klepsch (CDU), the Freiberg project idea shows libraries a way to integrate the potential of AI technology into everyday library work. "The Freiberg University Library is thus providing significant impetus for the future of library practice and delivering a transferable model with a state-wide impact," said the Minister.
The award, which is endowed with a good 10,000 euros, will be presented on December 12. "Here in Freiberg, we are developing ideas and projects that meet the requirements of the AI age in a special way," explained Jutta Emes, Rector of TU Freiberg.
The Schneeberg municipal library was also praised by the jury for its AI education concept for children and young people. The Saxon Library Prize has been awarded annually since 2013. According to the information provided, from this year onwards, innovative projects and ideas in particular are to be supported.
