Authors' Tour Through Saxony: Library Literature Forum Kicks Off

From Upper Lusatia, through the Ore Mountains, to the Vogtland and the Leipzig region: 20 authors are touring libraries across Saxony through mid-November. They will hold approximately 60 readings, 52 of which will take place in rural areas, according to the Ministry of Culture and the Saxony Library Association. Organized by the Saxony Library Association, the series aims to bring contemporary Saxon literature to regions outside the major cities.

Kickoff on September 30 in Upper Lusatia

The “Literaturforum Bibliothek” kicks off this coming Wednesday (September 30) at the Ebersbach-Neugersdorf City Library in Upper Lusatia. Saxon Literature Prize winner Heike Geißler will be a guest there to discuss her novel “Michaela Kohlhaas.” The opening event will be moderated by Dresden-based author Eileen Mägel (pseudonym of Eileen Mühlbach).

According to the Saxon Ministry of Culture, the literary works were selected in collaboration with the Saxon Literature Council and the libraries. The selection features a wide range of contemporary Saxon literature, including Uwe Kolbe’s poetry collection *Das Alter der Elbe*, Gerda Raidt’s socially critical novel *Klassenbuch*, and Benjamin Knull’s children’s book *Der kleine Isso vom Planeten Normal*.

Finale on November 15 in Chemnitz

The authors’ tour concludes on November 15 at the Central Library of the Chemnitz City Library—once again featuring a reading by Saxon Literature Prize winner Heike Geißler. Prior to that, Eileen Mägel, Burkhard Müller, and Angela Malz will discuss three current books from Saxony. According to the event program, Eileen Mägel will speak about “Nach der Sonne schauen” by Ruth Maria Thomas. Angela Malz will discuss *Stolz und Zweifel* by Marlen Hobrack, and Burkhard Müller will discuss *Nach der Sonne schauen* by Martina Hefter.
