It's not even November yet, and the Christmas spirit is already spreading across the Altmarkt: The construction of the 591st Dresden Striezelmarkt begins.

The construction work for the 591st Dresden Striezelmarkt has begun. According to the city, the markings for the locations of the market stalls will be put up this week. The Altmarkt has already been fenced in.

On Sunday, the large Striezelmarkt fir tree will be erected - the starting signal for the further construction of the Ferris wheel, pyramid and candle arch. "The first huts will then be set up by the traders from Friday, November 7," said the city in a statement about the further course of events.

The opening will be celebrated on November 26 from 3 p.m. with a church service in the Kreuzkirche followed by a light launch on the Altmarkt. The market is open daily from 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. until December 24 (Christmas Eve until 2.00 p.m.).
