Former Bundesliga coach Alexander Zorniger will return to Denmark in July to take over a promoted team. As announced by his new club Odense BK, the 57-year-old soccer coach has been given a three-year contract with the returning first division side. From 2016 to 2019, Zorniger previously coached a team in the Superliga at Copenhagen club Brøndby IF and won the cup.
Zorniger replaces promotion coach Sören Krogh (48) at Odense and will use his experience to "contribute to the further development of the club", according to the club's press release. After Brøndby and Cypriot club Apollon Limassol, this is the Swabian-born coach's third stint abroad.
Zorniger last worked in the 2nd division at SpVgg Greuther Fürth, where he was released after a 4-0 home defeat in the Franconian derby against 1. FC Nuremberg in October last year. He was also in charge at VfB Stuttgart and RB Leipzig.
