The volleyball players of VC Bitterfeld-Wolfen lost their home match against Helios Grizzlys Giesen (13:25, 22:25, 26:24, 20:25) and thus suffered their third defeat in a row on Sunday. Despite this, the promoted team from Saxony-Anhalt is still in seventh place in the midfield of the first division. The team from Giesen climbed to third place thanks to their 13th win of the season, in which Michiel Ahyi, who was named most valuable player, played a major part.
The newly promoted team did not stand a chance in the first set and constantly trailed in the second as well. In the third set, the home side were able to turn the tide with an inspiring finish after being 9:13 up and win the game. However, Giesen defended their 16:8 lead in the fourth set and did not let the overall victory slip from their grasp after 101 minutes.
