The volleyball players of VC Bitterfeld-Wolfen clearly lost their first game in the play-off quarter-finals against MVP Helios Grizzlys Giesen. The team from Saxony-Anhalt lost in three sets (18:25, 14:25, 15:25) after 67 minutes against the runners-up in the main round on Saturday. Michiel Ahyi, who was voted the most valuable player of the match, converted the first match point for the visitors from Lower Saxony. The second game in the "Best of Three" series will take place next Friday (7.30 pm) in Hildesheim.
The hosts were only able to keep up in the opening phase of the three sets. In the second set, the game remained open until 7:7. Giesen then pulled away to 9:18. Even in the third set, the home side's 8:5 lead was not enough to win the set. The home side had nothing to counter the greater penetration of the Lower Saxons in attack.
