Dynamo Dresden is continuing its collaboration with its honorary captain Ulf Kirsten. After initially acting as a consultant for two years, the 100-time international has been working as a brand ambassador for the Saxon second-division soccer club since May. The 59-year-old will remain with the Dresden club in this role. He supports Dynamo in sponsorship talks and club events.
"With his footballing history, especially in our club, and his connection to the city and Dynamo, he is an important personality for our sports community. In addition, his work has had a positive influence on the developments of recent weeks," said David Fischer, Managing Director Communications, in a press release.
"With promotion to Bundesliga 2, SGD is finally back in the league where it at least belongs. I want to do my part to make sure it stays that way and support the club in the best possible way," emphasized Kirsten.
Kirsten the club legend
Kirsten played for Dynamo from 1979 to 1990, before moving to Bayer 04 Leverkusen after reunification. He won the GDR championship twice and the cup three times with the Dresdeners. The striker scored a total of 79 goals in 210 competitive matches for Dynamo.
