After Erzgebirge Aue's next defeat in the third division, sporting director Michael Tarnat avoided making a clear commitment to coach Jens Härtel. "We'll go back, have a chat and then we'll see what happens. I can still say that Jens Härtel is doing an excellent job and is meticulous with his coaching team. But we're not celebrating any successes and that's the biggest problem. Unfortunately, soccer is black and white," the 56-year-old told the portal "Tag24" after the 1:3 at TSV Havelse. The "Freie Presse" also reported similarly.
Härtel's team lost their third game in a row at the penultimate club in the table due to three late goals conceded and remain in a relegation spot. After the final whistle, fans who had come along threw snowballs and beer cups at the professionals of the third-division club.
Härtel was already on the brink in December
"It's the same week after week. We don't learn from our mistakes," said the Auer coach on MagentaSport. "We don't kill the games when we can. It's extremely bitter." There had already been speculation in December that Härtel, who has been coach in the Erzgebirge for around a year, would leave. At that time, the club parted ways with sporting director Matthias Heidrich instead. Ex-Bayern professional Tarnat arrived shortly afterwards.
