Bundesliga handball team SC Magdeburg remain without a point in the Champions League. The SCM won 34:30 (18:15) at Hungarian representative Pick Szeged. Magdeburg's top scorer was Oscar Bergendahl with seven goals. With 10:0 points, Magdeburg continues to lead Group B with a commanding lead.
In the atmospheric arena, both sides were initially on an equal footing, but Magdeburg took advantage of two consecutive saves by Sergey Hernandez in the SCM goal to take a two-goal lead (6:4/9th). Magdeburg were clear in offense and hardly missed any opportunities. Nevertheless, they initially failed to extend their lead. Shortly before the end of the half, the club in green and red led by four goals for the first time, but conceded another goal as the buzzer went off at half-time.
Magdeburg outnumbered the opposing side to decide the game
The Hungarians came out of the break in better form and posed more problems for the visitors' attackers - the first SCM goal was not scored until the 39th minute. Szeged slowly reduced the deficit and closed the gap to 19:20 in the 42nd minute. However, Magdeburg capitalized on two overtime situations in succession to take a decisive four-goal lead (27:23/48). Szeged tried to score quickly, but made too many mistakes. SCM took advantage of these to extend its lead.
