SC Magdeburg advances to the round of 16 of the DHB Cup

SC Magdeburg is through to the last 16 of the DHB Cup. The handball Bundesliga club won 44:34 (19:15) at second-division side Dessau-Roßlau in front of 2,845 spectators after improving in the second half. The best SCM scorer was Omar Ingi Magnusson with eight goals. Magdeburg will now travel to TV Großwallstadt in the round of 16.

Magdeburg did not get off to a good start, missed a number of attacks and had no grip in defense - Dessau led by three goals (1:4/4th). Coach Bennet Wiegert (4:6/11th) complained in a timeout about a lack of consistency when scoring and demanded more clarity. However, the SCM continued to struggle in attack, but turned the game in its favor for the first time after a quarter of an hour (8:7/16th). However, that did not initially bring more security to the game. But the favorites pulled away a little before the break when they were outnumbered.

The SCM extended its lead after the break and gradually opened up a seven-goal advantage (24:17/36). Dessau - with numerous players who had trained at SCM - did not give up, but had to pay tribute to its higher individual class. As a result, the first-division club's lead continued to grow.
