Coach Marco Rose hopes that the setback in the first Champions League game of the new season will have a "positive influence" on RB Leipzig's upcoming tasks. "We want to regain self-confidence through the Bundesliga, learn something from it and draw energy from it," said the coach after the 2-1 defeat at Atlético Madrid.
In the Spanish capital, Rose felt his team lacked certain aspects. "We could have made better use of the spaces that were there, played with more confidence. We didn't manage that," said the 48-year-old.
The second-half substitute in Madrid, Christoph Baumgartner, expects a "completely different task" at the Kiez club. Unlike Atlético, Leipzig are once again the clear favorites against FC St. Pauli, who have no points so far. "We can expect another great game. We have to take it 100 per cent, if you're not 100 per cent, they'll eat you up," said Baumgartner.
