The RB Leipzig women's soccer team missed out on a surprise in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup and a place in the last eight. The Bundesliga promotion contenders lost 3-0 (0-1) at favored league rivals TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Sunday. At the Dietmar Hopp Stadium, Jill Janssens put the hosts ahead after just seven minutes to set up a commanding victory against RB coach Saban Uzun's team.
After the break, Marta Casalla Garcia (58) made it 2-0 and ensured an early lead for the third-placed team in the league, who have been weak at home so far and have won just one of their previous four home games. Franziska Harsch (90.+5) then ensured the final score in stoppage time. Leipzig will have a quick chance of revenge on December 17 (14:00/Magentasport), when both teams will once again battle for points in the Bundesliga in Sinsheim.
