On the artificial turf of Bern's Wankdorf Stadium, RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose has asked for a special training session ahead of the Champions League opener. The team trained in sneakers on Monday evening. Rose's measure was intended to get a better feel for the unfamiliar surface. Leipzig will face Swiss champions Young Boys Bern in their Group G opener on Tuesday (6:45 p.m./DAZN). Other group opponents are defending champions Manchester City and Red Star Belgrade.
Rose will have to do without Lukas Klostermann on match day. The international is out with a stomach bug. Christoph Baumgartner was absent from final training on Monday due to muscular problems. The Austrian did not travel with the team to Bern but is expected to join them on Tuesday.
