The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has one and a half legs in the semi-finals of the Fiba Europe Cup. The Bundesliga club won the quarter-final first leg at Casademont Zaragoza by 98:64 (58:37) on Wednesday evening. Kaza Kajami Keane (15), Ousman Krubally (13), Jeffery Garret, DeAndre Landsdowne (12 each) and Wesley van Beck (11) played the biggest part in the win. Only Mitchell Watt (14) scored in double figures for the hosts. The second leg will be played in Chemnitz on March 13.
The Spaniards were only able to hold their own against the German club in the opening spell. After making it 23:22 (8'), the Niners pulled away with a 17:4 run to lead 40:26 (13') and were already more than 20 points ahead before the final two quarters. The visitors dominated in particular under the baskets (42:31 rebounds). The Spaniards also conceded 21 turnovers.
