SC Magdeburg can hope for the return of backcourt player Gisli Kristjansson for the Final Four in the Champions League.

SC Magdeburg can probably count on backcourt ace Gisli Kristjansson for the Final Four of the Handball Champions League after all. "There is a chance that he will be in the squad," said SCM coach Bennet Wiegert with a view to the semi-final against defending champions FC Barcelona on Saturday (18:00/Dyn/DAZN/DF1) in Cologne.

Kristjansson suffered a shoulder injury in the Bundesliga game at TBV Lemgo at the beginning of June and missed Magdeburg's remaining two games of the season. Now the 25-year-old international from Iceland is apparently on the verge of a comeback after a speedy recovery.
