At the Golden Oval at the end of May, spectators will also see the best German sprinters. Gina Lückenkemper in particular wants to set an "exclamation mark".

Gina Lückenkemper will be competing with the World Championship bronze relay team at the Golden Oval in Dresden. This was announced by the German Athletics Association (DLV). Lückenkemper will therefore compete in the 100 meters on 31 May in the Heinz Steyer Stadium with Sina Mayer, Rebekka Haase and Sophia Junk, who all won bronze together at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

This will see Germany's best female sprinters prepare for the German Championships on July 25/26 in Bochum-Wattenscheid and the European Championships in Birmingham (August 10-16). "I already know the Dresden crowd and the stadium from the 2025 German Championships. The atmosphere was great, so I'm really looking forward to running fast there at the Golden Oval at the end of May. I want to set a good time in Dresden and put down a first marker for the European Championships in Birmingham," said Lückenkemper.

International competition wants to keep up

Lückenkemper and Co. have to be prepared for good competition. The American Maia McCoy has entered with a best time of under eleven seconds. The 29-year-old improved to 10.96 seconds last year and won the ISTAF in Berlin just ahead of Lückenkemper. Portugal's Lorene Bazolo will also be competing. Last year, she set the national record with 11.10 seconds.
