Julia Taubitz has won her second medal at the Luge World Championships in Altenberg with silver in the singles. Two days after her sprint victory, the 27-year-old was only beaten by Austria's Lisa Schulte in the classic single race on Sunday. After the two runs on her home track, the World Cup leader was 0.104 seconds behind the surprise winner. Bronze went to another Austrian, Madeleine Egle.
Defending champion Anna Berreiter had nothing to do with the decision. After a botched first run, the 24-year-old Bavarian did not qualify for the final. Merle Fräbel was better in fifth place.
Before the final team relay, the team of national coach Norbert Loch has won a total of six medals. In addition to Julia Taubitz, Max Langenhan also won gold in the single and silver in the sprint. Three-time Olympic champion Felix Loch won the bronze medal in Langenhan's triumph. The doubles Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt also made it to bronze on Saturday.
