Dynamo Dresden remain a problem child in the second Bundesliga. Despite taking the lead again, it was not even enough for a point in the 2-1 (1-1) draw against SC Paderborn. The fifth attempt at a home win was also unsuccessful. Christoph Daferner (26 minutes) gave Dynamo the lead with a penalty in front of 30,990 spectators at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion. Filip Bilbija (45.+1) also equalized from the penalty spot. Mika Baur (65') turned the game around.
Dynamo once again started without goalkeeper Tim Schreiber, who injured his hand, and striker Stefan Kutschke, who has been banned for three matches following his red card in Münster for an assault. Coach Thomas Stamm only made one change to the starting eleven compared to the previous week, bringing Claudio Kammerknecht on for Jakob Lemmer and switching to a three-man, five-man back line. SCP coach Ralf Kettemann made two changes to his team: Lasse Tjark Scheller replaced Calvin Brackelmann in the back three. Nick Bätzner started on the left for Sebastian Klaas.
Daferner scores from the spot
Paderborn pressed very high from the start and Dynamo were often only able to break free with direct passing. Nevertheless, Dresden were defensively stable. The home side had the first chance to take the lead when Konrad Faber (22) moved into the penalty area on the right and hit the outside of the net from close range. At the other end, Laurin Curda (24) sent a cross straight at the Dynamo goal. Virtually on the counterattack, Scheller then fouled Niklas Hauptmann in the penalty area and Daferner (26) converted the penalty to take the lead with his fifth goal of the season.
The visitors had more possession, but made too little of it. Dynamo were different: After a corner was cleared, Daferner (41) took a turn and shot narrowly wide. Faber (44') was then tackled in the penalty area - penalty. The review confirmed it. As a result, Filip Bilbija (45.+1) equalized rather luckily with the first SCP chance.
After the changeover, Dresden's Lennart Grill made a strong save from substitute Luis Engelns, but seconds later, ex-Dynamo player Mika Baur (65) scored with a volley to give Paderborn the lead. Dynamo tried everything - and were dangerous again shortly before the end: In the eighth minute of stoppage time, Vinko Sapina failed to beat Paderborn keeper Dennis Seimen with a header.
