Dynamo Dresden are unable to take advantage of their rivals' slip-ups in the promotion race in the 3rd Football League. On Sunday evening, the Saxons could not get past the 1:1 (1:1) against bottom of the table SC Freiburg II. Tom Zimmerschied (28) had put the visitors ahead, but Freiburg's Yann Sturm (41) equalized before the break.
The Black & Yellows dominated the game from the start. Jakob Lemmer (3), Paul Will (9) and Zimmerschied (27) had good chances to score. It was the latter who was rewarded for his diligence with the opening goal. The equalizer shortly before the break came from a set piece. Dresden captain Stefan Kutschke cleared a corner kick into the middle and deflected Sturm's subsequent shot into the path of goalkeeper Kevin Broll.
The SGD continued to dominate the game for long periods in the second half and had more chances. However, coach Markus Anfang's team were unable to convert this into goals and important points in the promotion battle. The 2-0 defeat of Preußen Münster against league leaders SSV Ulm saw Dynamo climb back to third place in the relegation places. However, there is no real calm in the discussion about Anfang after the lack of another win.
