Second division soccer club Dynamo Dresden has signed Vincent Vermeij from league rivals Fortuna Düsseldorf. "With Vincent, we have been able to acquire a player who knows the Bundesliga 2 and its requirements very well and has already proven his quality in numerous leagues beyond the second division. With his height and technique, he can give our offense even more power," said Dynamo's sporting director Thomas Brendel in a club statement. No details were given about the transfer terms or the duration of the contract.
The Dutch striker already played for SC Freiburg II under current Dresden head coach Thomas Stamm and scored 26 goals in 64 games for the Breisgau U23s during this time. "I had a very successful time with Vincent in Freiburg and the collaboration was consistently positive. That's why we never really broke off contact over the past few years. He leads the way as an absolute team player," Stamm praised the new signing.
In addition to Freiburg and Düsseldorf, the 31-year-old Vermeij also played for MSV Duisburg in Germany. He made a total of 57 competitive appearances for Fortuna, scoring 15 goals and assisting a further four. In his home country, he made 79 appearances in the Eredivisie, scoring 19 goals for De Graafschap Doetinchem, Heracles Almelo and FC Den Bosch.
