The volleyball players of Dresdner SC have continued their winning streak and are through to the semi-finals of the DVV Cup. The team of coach Alexander Waibl won clearly 3:0 (25:22, 25:22, 25:16) against VfB Suhl Lotto Thüringen in front of 2207 spectators in their home hall on Wednesday. It has not yet been decided who their opponents will be in the final round.
Just one and a half weeks earlier, the two teams had fought out a close battle in the Bundesliga play-off. In the end, Dresden came out on top in five sets. This time too, the two teams gave each other nothing in the first two sets. In the decisive moments, however, the six-time champions and cup winners proved to be more powerful in attack, served with more pressure and were tactically well prepared and secure in defense. The Waibl team also showed nerves of steel in the end. The Suhl team's resistance was broken after the first two rounds and the DSC then clearly dictated proceedings.
