After 20 years, Herrnhuter Sterne GmbH is getting new management. In April, Katja Ruppert will take over the management from Oskar Scholz, as the East Saxon company announced on Wednesday. "I am delighted that a more than competent successor has been found in Katja Ruppert," said Oskar Scholz. She has been with Herrnhuter since 2005 and is very familiar with the company.
The Herrnhuter Stern is considered to be the origin of poinsettias. With its eight triangular and 17 square points, it has been produced in the town in the district of Görlitz since 1897. This is where the Evangelical Unity of Brethren, which now has a worldwide presence, originated. It is also a 100 percent shareholder of the Sterne-Manufaktur, which currently employs 195 men and women. Last year, 800,000 stars were produced in the manufactory.
