Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) will maintain the NH90 helicopters as a direct contractor for the German Armed Forces. The contract was officially signed today in Dresden. Saxony’s Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) was also present at the ceremony. It was announced that Elbe Flugzeugwerke will now be responsible for inspections and repair work on the transport helicopters for the next seven years. According to reports, the collaboration has already begun: The first helicopters arrived in Dresden as early as the beginning of September, a spokeswoman said. Collaboration with the Bundeswehr is nothing new for the company—just like the NH90 helicopters. Until now, however, EFW had merely been a subcontractor for the maintenance of Bundeswehr helicopters. Now, the first direct partnership with the Bundeswehr is beginning. The company considers this a significant milestone for its Dresden location and for the continued collaboration between EFW and the Bundeswehr, according to a press release.
